Welcome to my blog! This is where I can say all the stuff in my head, that my mom was too "tired" to hear! :) Check it out!

Sniffle, Sneeze, Cough, Cough

I am ill. I've been blowing my nose all week and now my nose is red and sore. I am convinced that I have cystic fibrosis because when I laugh I start coughing and then occasionally hack up mucus. Ew. Let me tell you something, this is not fun. I do not enjoy people looking at me like I'm crazy and I have to blow my nose for half and hour. Also, when I have to blow my nose really hard, I can feel the veins in my neck pop out and become afraid that I will explode. I do not enjoy this.

Harry Potter

Soo, I watched the first Harry Potter last night! What memories! I'm pretty darn excited to see the Deathly Hallows. I recently watched the 6th one again and understood what was happening, so that's a good sign! Also, I have been feeling like Harry lately. I found this mysterious scar on my forehead. It's just a line, no cool shape, but still. Anyway, it would hurt random times in the day and I would reach up and stroke it. As I did that, I would say " my scar!" what fun!!
Also, Harry is a smidge of an idiot. By the fourth book, he should know, when something crazy happens it has something to do with magic! Time to learn pal!

College

For computer literacy, I am supposed to research three colleges and pick my top one. I know it's only an assignment to get us used to powerpoint, but it got me thinking. There are lots of decisions to be made about college, and I am a terrible decision maker. Anyway, my top college is the University of Northern Iowa. I chose this because it has a great education program. I want to major in early childhood development/education. This school is perfect for that. I've had family members who have gone to UNI and have loved it and been very successful. It is also fairly close to home, about three hours away I believe.

Bailey's Shindig

Alrighty, as I sit here, there is some sort of riot going on above me. Bailey is having her 16th birthday party and it's........loud. It sounds like they are having fun though so...that's good. But wait! you might ask, What is the lovely Callie doing while this whole shindig going on without her? I am wordlessly sitting at the computer or in my room, occasionally I will venture to the living room. I just hope the pizza comes soon cause.....I'm hungry.

I Googled Myself

I'm sure almost everyone's googled themselves at one point or another. I just did and surprisingly, didn't find too much. The only thing I found was a posting of dancers who made the competition team. The strange thing is, it wasn't under my name, it was under Mariah Koster's name, she's another dancer. I had googled myself before and dance stuff came up directly to me, my facebook came up, and I think the occasional mock trial or history day event. I don't know why it doesn't come up anymore, but I think it's a good thing. It's not like I do a lot of bad things, but I don't want all of my information to come up. I'm kind of glad that I'm not very google-able. I think part of the reason is my name. Baack usually comes up as back, and it just doesn't work very well. When my future bosses or college deans google me they won't find much, so that's good.

'Ello, Guvna!

I hope to travel to London someday.  Though about 12 days of every month are rainy, it is still very beautiful. There are a lot of things to do and see in London. There are a lot of governmental things to see, which is very interesting.  You can visit the Parliament, or the Buckingham Palace. The latter is the official home of the Queen. Both of these buildings, along with a lot of other historical and tourist attractions, are located in Westminster. I would visit the Thames River as well as Shakespeare's Globe Theater. I also want to visit Big Ben! The best way to get around to these places would be by The Tube, which is like the Subway, or walking. I would, however, have to change my U.S. dollars for pounds.

Sooo.....

Sooo.... well, I feel like there's something on my mind that I need to share. The problem is, I don't remember what it is. Hmm... It's rather frustrating. I'll just start typing stuff, and maybe it'll come to me.

Devin, my brother is sick today. He hasn't thrown up yet...so that's good.  It's another short day today and we don't have school tomorrow so that's pretty darn exciting!

Oh! This wasn't the thing I was thinking of, but I'll tell you anyway. I have a three day weekend, and I have to do something on all of those days. I'm going to the game on Friday night, I'm going to the Band Day Parade, and then hanging out with friends on Saturday, and I have church, a dance picnic, the crop walk, and dance on Sunday. Even though these are all fun things, I still feel like I'm always on the go. At least it's not for boring stuff.

I watched Glee last night and, as usual, it was amazing!!! I teared up a little at the end and then a little more at the preview for next week's episode. Oh, you're wondering what it is? I guess you will just have to watch it to find out. ( You are welcome, Fox Network)

Soo...That's about it, maybe something more exciting or important will come to me later.

Greatest Technological Invention of All Time.

I believe the greatest invention of all time is the computer.
  • Just about any information can be found on it
  • So many other inventions have sprung from the computer
  • We can communicate in so many ways
  • The world can become almost completely paperless
  • We can find out where we are in the world and get directions for where we are going

Short Week!!

This week is conference week, and that means we have two hour early outs on two days, and no school Friday! It's rather exciting. It's also a plus when, in high school, conferences aren't mandatory so guess who's not going!!! Me!! This should be a good week! However, my business hasn't changed. I still have play practice and dance three times a week. along with youth group and other random things. I'm still trying to figure out how to balance play and dance, because a lot of times they fall at the same time. Everything is going well so far though. My busy schedule also means that I am missing a lot of my favorite shows. So, when I'm not super busy after school, I still am because I have to catch up on my tv watching. Pure chaos.   So, let's hope I can get through the two full days of school we have this week, and then enjoy myself the rest of the time.   :)

Second Best

I feel as if I'm always being upstaged. Have you ever had that person that always does better than you? Yeah, me too. I can do something to my best ability, and I still am second best. Sometimes not even second. Nobody knows me for me. I'm always associated with this other person, or that other person. When can I be my own person? I'm not even known as the penguin-loving girl anymore. That name has been taken from me by someone that people like better. It's rather frustrating when I'm trying to make a name for myself, but no one is listening.

Texting

I think texting is fantastic! I think it can be very helpful, especially when you have questions to ask. However, I think there is a limit. It is still important to maintain face to face interaction with your friends. You need to physically see each other in order to keep the relationship alive. I think that people are braver and bolder when they text. Even if they can't say things to your face, they are very comfortable texting it. On the other end of the spectrum, though, some people become for comfortable saying things to your face, because the usually text whatever comes to mind, so they will say it too. Personally, I love texting, but I think it can become a little ridiculous at the extent people will go to to not have to say things in person.

Play, Glee, and Other Random Thoughts

So, I'm sitting here, blogging. Trying to think of something to blog about. Hmm.... oh! Glee started yesterday and I had to miss the first episode because of play practice. Thank goodness for DVR! Speaking of play, I am playing the part of Agnes, and me and my "sisters", had to come up with a little tap dance. Good thing me and Nicole Montgomery have had ten years of dance. Now it's just Elyse Borchers we have to worry about. Much to her surprise, she got the routine down quick, and was very excited about it! I can't wait to perform! So, now I am going to get through the shortened day (!), and then go home and catch up on my tv. :)

Homecoming

We had a homecoming assembly this morning. It was just a smidge pathetic. Apparently most of our student body don't really care to cheer out loud. Maybe all the loud people were in the band, and couldn't cheer because they were playing. Who knows. Maybe, like me, I prefer to cheer silently, in my head.

We also have dress up days. For fictional character day, I am going to be Tracy Turnblad from Hairspray. I will be dawning the big hair, plaid skirt, and a I heart Link Larkin Button. :)

Do celebrities inroduce themselves?

So, I was watching the Golden Globes a couple of years ago, and Julia Roberts came on stage as a presenter. She had been seated next to Paul McCartney, and she said she's never gotten more texts in her life. I have never forgotten the question I asked myself after that. Do celebrities introduce themselves to other celebrities? I mean they already who each other is. Are they like "Hi I'm Julia Roberts, What's your name?" They already know who they are. Is it bad etiquette, though, to just assume that people know who you are. I mean, you celebrities can't really go up to another celebrity that they've never met and be all "Hi Paul, I've never met you, but you are a celebrity so I know who you are. I know you know who I am." That is rude.  I still don't know. I suppose celebrities meeting other celebrities would be a little awkward, because they don't know what to say to get the conversation started. I guess I'm lucky not to be a celebrity in this case.
